Our current service projects include the following:

  • SANTA PROJECT - Our biggest service project that is also a fundraiser is taking children's pictures with Santa during Christmas time at Northpark Mall off of 122nd and May.  Club members volunteer for shifts to take on various roles to make this a success!  Proceeds raised are given back to the community through grants to local community service organizations (non-profits).  For the 2011 season, Santa pictures kick-off at the Open House event on November 17th from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.  Regular schedules of picture-taking begin on the Friday following Thanksgiving and ends on Christmas Eve.  For more information, please see the Home Page about the Santa Project.  If you or your civic group wants to volunteer with us, please call Jessica at 405-365-0616 or email at jessicas@ossba.org.

  • BRITVIL FOOD PANTRY- Each year, NWOKC Rotary has assisted the BritVil Food Pantry in sorting food following the Postal Service's annual food drive.  This has been very beneficial to community members who need food and to this worthwhile organization that faces an extremely large challenge of sorting and distributing so much food in such a short amount of time.  This historically has taken place in March.

  • EASTER PROJECT - Similar to the Santa Project, Club members rally once again for a few weekends in April to take children's pictures with the Easter Bunny at Northpark Mall. Again, proceeds are donated back to the local community through non-profit organizations.

  • BAPTIST CHILDREN'S HOME EVENTS - Twice a year, the NWOKC Rotary hosts events for children of the Baptist Children's Home.  In the fall is a Fishing/Sailing event at Lake Hefner (water levels permitting), and in the winter, a Christmas party is held.  We feel these children need to know that they are special and we care about them, so we take great strides to make them feel welcome and cared for.

  • RIDGEVIEW ELEMENTARY PROJECTS - Throughout the school year, members from NWOKC Rotary Club mentor children to ensure they don't get behind in their education.  We read to them, help them with their homework, and occasionally get to play games and just have fun.  We have gardened at the school in the past and try to assess each year what needs to be done.  We hope this year to be able to host classroom parties and donate books to classes to promote literacy.

  • STINCHCOMB PARK - Every couple of months, members gather on a Saturday morning to clean up our designated park, Stinchcomb Park.  We take pride in this beautification project.  This year, NWOKC Rotary was awarded an OKC Beautiful Award from Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett for its upkeep of this park.

  • VILLAGE FUN FAIR - Each October, the City of the Village hosts a Fun Fair for its neighbors, patrons, and community to raise money for various projects.  Our members volunteer in flipping burgers, helping children with games or rides, and to help the event operate smoothly.  This year, the goal was to raise money to put in a sprayground at the Park.
