Non-Profit Mall Santa Claus Project at North Park Mall in OKC
 |
The metro's only non-profit mall Santa will once again visit Northpark Mall for the holiday season. This is the 26th year the project has been sponsored by the Rotary Club of Northwest Oklahoma City.
Santa will be available on weekends from Thanksgiving through Christmas at the mall, Northwest 122nd and May Avenue. There is no charge for a child who wishes to visit with Santa, and parents can have a
Polaroid picture taken for $5.
"This is our club's major fund-raiser for the year," said Lee Bollinger, Santa Project chair. The proceeds go to support Rotary's projects both locally and internationally.
"Rotary is a major force in the fight to stamp out polio in the world. Since 1985, we have achieved a 99 percent reduction in the number of polio cases reported worldwide," he said. "We also helped fund 'eye camps' in India,
where residents are screened for glasses and cataract surgery."
Locally, the club sponsors a Christmas party and a summer fishing and sailing event for the residents of the Baptist Children's Home.
This summer they sponsored Hispanic high school boys and girls from four Oklahoma City high schools to a conference to develop leadership skills.
